Citizenship and Recreational Trip

SUMMARY:

Operation East Coast is a Citizenship trip to Nova Scotia, where the cadets will participate in an educational program while staying on  an active air force base CFB Greenwood. The cadets will have an opportunity to explore the two active Air Force Bases, Tour local Museums and  local shopping, etc.

ITINERARY:

10 Mar 2018

Day One - Transport Day

10 MARCH 2018

Day One will be a transportation day, which will see the group in transit to accommodations. Cadets will be dressed in comfortable, civilian wear for this portion of the trip. Once checked-in to accom, the opportunity may exist for cadets to contact home, if they need to. The accom venue has not been published here for security reasons.

Day Two - Arrival at CFB Greenwood

11 MARCH 2018

Day Two will consist of transport and venue arrival. The group will arrive at CFB Greenwood NS for their initial safety briefing. Upon arrival, they will be assigned bunk space and learning groups, and provided with a schedule for the rest of their stay.

Day Three - Base Tour

12 MARCH 2018

Day Three will see the group participating in learning activities and scheduled programming at CFB Greenwood. The cadets will also participate in Base Tours including, flight simulators and other sites on Base. Finnish the evening off with Pizza and Bowling.

Day Four -CGB Sheerwater

13 MARCH 2018

Day Four will see the Cadets touring CFB Sheerwater. Tours are to include Helicopter Squadrons, Search and Rescue and Aviation Museum etc.

Day Five - Halifax Tours

Day Five will see the group participating in a tour of the Maritime of the Atlantic Museum. Tour of Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse.

Day Six - Museum Tours

15 MARCH 2018

Day Six will see the group Touring Greenwoods Aviation Museum. Cadets will Tour a Heritage style Farm, visit heritage buildings such as Rose Bank Cottage, the home of Captain Ross’s family, dating from 1817.

Day Seven - Museum and Shopping

16 MARCH 2018

Day Seven will see the group Tour the Halifax Citadel, the Natural History Museum and Finnish off the day Shopping at the Halifax Shopping Center.

Day Eight - Depart for Home

Day Eight will be a transportation day, which will see the group in transit to accommodations. Cadets will be dressed in comfortable, civilian wear for this portion of the trip. Once checked-in to accom, the opportunity may exist for cadets to contact home, if they need to.

Day Nine - Arrive Home

18 March 2018

Day Nine will see the cadets on there final leg of there journey and arrive in Brantford.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE
AND CONTACT:

Provisions have been made to assist the group during an emergency situation. Local hospitals and venues have been mapped out and published in the Orders for the trip. All travel insurance has been taken care of, courtesy of the Air Cadet League of Canada.

 

A designated emergency vehicle will be accompanying the coach bus to assist, as needed.

 

To contact the Officer-in-Charge of the trip, please go through OCdt Celina Corner. She will be in direct contact with the trip's Duty Officer at all times. The OIC will also be providing regular updates via social media (Facebook) for the duration of the trip.
